Going Underground

I was asked by Louise Hesketh (Visual Arts Development Officer) from The Brindley Arts Centre, Halton Borough Council if I would be interested in shadowing Illustrator / Graphic Designer Gareth Arrowsmith (http://garetharrowsmith.blogspot.co.uk/) working on the 'Going Underground' subway project in Runcorn.

'This project is funded through the Castlefields Regeneration Programme. Going Underground is a combined arts project that seeks to engage communities in animating and rejuvenating five public subways.
A diverse range of artists have worked with local groups to create a series of murals, artworks and performances that improve the subway spaces.'

Gareth began working on the subway two days before I arrived to help out, to my surprise he had begun most of the animals on one wall! Here is my visual blog of the creation of the subway Gareth & I worked on;

Day 1 - The creation of the fox

Day 2 - Continuing with the 1st wall

Day 3 - The completion of the 1st wall

Day 4 - Continuing with the 2nd wall & the ceiling

Day 5 - Adding animals to the 2nd wall

Day 6 - The completion of the 2nd wall & the ceiling

Day 7 - The day of the launch event (14/07/2012)
